Up on the blog today is the always stunning ever-talented Hannah of Hannah Cummins Photography!  If she looks familiar to you, that’s for good reason since she is one of my closest photog-friends. A few brief years ago when I was just starting out in photography and getting my business established (fast forward to present and I STILL feel like I’m just getting established – small business owner problems!), she took me under her wing and I’m so lucky she did. What she saw in me & my lack of knowledge or experience at the time I have no idea but I feel so fortunate to get to work with this gorgeous lady week in and week out during wedding season. I photograph almost all of her weddings alongside her, and this August we get to trade places and she will be second shooting for me – I cannot wait to have her with me.
Building relationships with your peers and those in the wedding industry is always good but when you find a connection that goes beyond work, that stretches into a friendship, it’s pure gold. This girl has stood by me through life’s ups and downs and has always helped me find my way even when I didn’t want to admit where life was taking me. So happy to be located closer to her now in Langley! We try to sneak out at least once a year to exchange portrait sessions with each other – being business owners, updating your headshots and profile photos always helps keep you up to date & current with your clients! She always rocks it in front of the camera, and this session may be my favourite one of her yet!

I met these two at the start of September last year. It was the labour day long weekend and they were getting married at the beautiful Harper’s Trail Winery in Kamloops where Brieanne works. I was the second photographer at their wedding alongside Hannah Cummins Photography and we had such an amazing time celebrating with these two & their family, and helping to capture some amazing moments for them. Now, just under a year later, baby #1 is on it’s way and I’m so excited for these two to welcome their new addition into the world later this summer! We caught up over the Canada Day long weekend and were able to sneak in a quick maternity session down by the water on Shuswap Lake during sunset.

I had originally planned for today’s Travel Tuesday blog to be of my visit to San Francisco, California. It was my favourite stop along the way of the West Coast road trip (30 hours on the road – call us crazy but it was worth it!) and for that reason alone I decided it was best to save it for another day. You can look forward to that one up on the blog in the coming weeks.
Until then, I wanted to share my brief time at Haystack Rock – probably my most anticipated stop on the road. I’ve had a couple opportunities in the past to visit Oregon but for a sad variety of reasons, life & situations got in the way. It made this short visit that much more exciting – to finally get to be here was all that I could’ve asked for!
It was a hazy morning spent in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Having arrived to darkness in the middle of the night just hours prior, I excitedly awoke eager to explore, and swung the door open to be greeted by a thick fog engulfing not only the beach but the entire picturesque town surrounding it. It was to be expected I suppose.. I was, after all, in the heart of the West Coast experiencing the foggy weather that it is known best for. If anything, it only enhanced the beauty of the coast.
I practically ran down to the beach that morning, with only a couple of short hours of exploring time before it was time to be back on the road. Even through the thick fog, I could see the outline of Haystack Rock looming in the distance. It really is a sight to be seen. Who here has been to Oregon?! What was your favourite place to stop and explore there?? Tell me in the comments below!

I first met these two at a little coffee shop in Walnut Grove one quiet evening back in January. It was raining out that day, but as I got out of my car and peered past the pouring rain through the glass windows of the coffee shop I could see the outline of a couple. Sitting there together at a table, their heads bent together, foreheads touching, hand in hand, were Amelia & Lawrence. Even through the darkness & rain-streaked windows I could see not only the love these two held but also the joy they shared together.
We quickly delved into conversation, hearing details of their relationships, engagement, and upcoming wedding (seriously, these two shared more of their wedding plans during this session and it is going to be one incredibly special day – I can’t wait!). Once we started planning their engagement session, we quickly decided on Gastown in the heart of downtown Vancouver as the perfect spot. Lawrence had proposed at a building nearby and they both loved the contrast of the city buildings with their nearing summer wedding venue in Fort Langley.
Fast forward to this last week and we found ourselves meeting at the Steamclock – the centrepiece of Gastown. If they were nervous for their photo session they did not show it at all – the smiles beaming from their faces and the pure happiness shining from their eyes overtook any other doubts. These two were absolute naturals in front of the camera and their love truly shone through and told their story for them.

I’m so excited for their wedding this August at Fort Langley Golf Course. 🙂
