Christine & Tom were married back in September at Jubilee Hall in Abbotsford, BC. The day could not have been more perfect for an autumn wedding as the leaves were starting to turn golden while the warmth of summer still clung to the air. Christine looked stunning as she walked down the isle with both of her parents by her side. Her bridesmaids choked back tears and excited laughs for their dear friend, and Tom’s face was beaming from the smile he had on his face from seeing his bride walking towards him.
After the ceremony was over, it was off to portraits with the bridal party and what a fun group we had! From lifting the bride across ditches, to ending our time with them by shotgunning beer, we had a great time with this fabulous group of people. One of the best things about a wedding day is when the guests and bridal party are so invested in their relationships with the couples that it shines through every moment of the day, and this was no exception. Hannah and I had an amazing afternoon with you two, congratulations Christine + Tom!

A little behind the scenes action of the guys (beers in hand) helping the ladies across the ditch – whatever it takes to get the shot, right?

Wedding party shenanigans

We had such a great time with this bridal party – and yes, if I’m at your wedding and I overhear talk of shotgunning beer, I WILL encourage it and I WILL photograph every messy minute of it!
Absolutely love these ring shots I grabbed at the end of the day!

There’s something really special about getting to photograph friends. When a person is no longer a stranger to you, you see even more of their true beauty and personality shine through and when I get one of my friends in front of the camera, it gives me the opportunity to share what I value about them with the world. Stephanie represents every good quality in a friend that you would want. Her kindness, her smile, her laughter and her generosity are just a few of the things that make up her beauty. We met last year working together at Mertin Auto Group where I was doing some part time administrative work and anytime I was working I knew I could always count on this girl to brighten my day. So when Stephanie messaged me a few weeks back about doing a fun portrait session with her, I didn’t hesitate to say yes. This girl is a gem and it was so fun getting to photograph her!
Poor Stephanie – by the time we realized the water over there was up past her ankles it was too late to save the boots! Thank goodness my friends are as crazy as I am and do what I say 😉
Every single day, I look out my window and stare down the hill at this beautiful field. Weekly, I drive past it and probably almost drive off the road staring at it – daydreaming different photo ideas. Thanks Steph for being willing to [probably] trespass with me to get these shots.. I’d say it was worth the risk!

I am so excited to finally be able to share this amazing Arizona desert engagement session with you all! We photographed Lauren + Chris under the talented direction of the amazing Montana Dennis as a part of the ShowIt United conference in Scottsdale Arizona back in October which already guarantees you are in for a great adventure. Montana is an inspiration within the industry and is known well for pushing the box creatively; it was an honour to watch him work.
He led us in directing Lauren + Chris into fun moments that brought out unique and genuine emotion that drew connection between the two of them. At the same time, he challenged our group to look for lines in our surroundings that draw the eye towards the subject and help to tell the story. Not only did he stay out at the shoot with us long after the shoot was supposed to end to continue teaching us who were eager to learn but he even got up for a spontaneous sunset shoot with a few other attendees the next morning – that’s dedication. But on to Lauren and Chris…
Lauren is the owner and talented photographer of Phoenix-based Lauren Buman Photography and was attending the ShowIt United conference along with the rest of us that were participating in the styled shoots. She looked absolutely gorgeous and was perfectly coordinated in her navy blue dress and necklace with her husband Chris. Watching them playfully banter back and forth with each other reminded me of why I love working one-on-one with couples to capture their unique interactions with each other. It truly is the best job in the world.

Montana leading the shoot…

I loved capturing their joy with each other

Love this one of Lauren grabbing Chris’ tie – this sequence is my favourite

Montana: “Anyone want to climb that steep mountain way over there?” and all hands in the group go up – you know you’re in the right place with the right people!

When an airplane photobombs your couple…

perfection.
