If you’re looking for one of the most beautiful and easily accessible engagement session locations in the Lower Mainland, Pitt Lake (more specifically, the scenic Pitt River Dyke area) is always near the top of my list.
With breathtaking mountain views, wide open skies, peaceful riverside scenery, and easy walking trails, it’s a location that perfectly showcases the natural beauty British Columbia is known for. You don’t need to hike for hours to be rewarded with incredible scenery, making it a wonderful option for couples who want stunning mountain backdrops without a strenuous adventure.
For Erin and Mark’s engagement session, we spent the evening wandering the trails and soaking in the incredible views. The soft evening light paired with the dramatic mountain peaks created the perfect setting for relaxed, romantic photographs that felt true to who they are.
One of the reasons I love recommending this location is its versatility. Whether you’re hoping for mountain views, tall grasses, riverside scenery, or tree-lined pathways, the Pitt River Dyke area offers a beautiful mix of classic Pacific Northwest landscapes all within a short walk.
One important note if you’re planning your own session here: in recent months, the lower open field area that many photographers previously used has been closed to public access to help protect local wildlife and sensitive habitat. While that section is no longer available for photography, there are still plenty of beautiful viewpoints and trails throughout the area that make Pitt Lake one of my favourite engagement session locations in the Fraser Valley.
Sometimes the best locations aren’t about finding somewhere completely hidden – they’re about finding a place that lets the scenery speak for itself. Pitt Lake does exactly that, offering timeless mountain views that never go out of style and a peaceful setting where couples can simply enjoy being together.
